Northern Wisconsin NORML is in the planning stages for our Third Annual Potluck Picnic had fishing day to promote Free Fishing Weekend in Wisconsin with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR). During Free Fishing Weekend, the State of Wisconsin does not require any purchase of a fishing license for both in state and out of state anglers to fish.

Northern Wisconsin NORML members and supporters work with the DNR to bring awareness for the weekend, as well as conduct a fishing clinic, assist first time anglers and have fishing information, sample products and prizes donated by both the DNR and local merchants. The information and event is appropriate for all ages, families and anglers of any experience. We have will extra poles, a variety of bait and are working on the possibility of adding a canoe and/or boat excursion to the morning.

Why is NORML involved in this? Many of our members enjoy fishing, as well as giving back to the community in a variety of ways. Just like fishing seems to bring a diverse group of people together, so does hemp cannabis. Do not look for huge marijuana leaves, signs or people smoking pot the event, that just will not happen. In fact, smoking anything in the public parks is not accepted during our meetings and events, including tobacco. But, you will be able to enjoy some "potluck" hemp food and other picnic treats and at anytime speak to one of our members about our organization and the topic of marijuana reform. We hope to see you at the event, but if you cannot make, please get out and fish the first weekend in June during Wisconsin Free Fishing Weekend.

More information about the event will be announced as it is made available.

Those interested in helping with this event in any way, including help with the fishing clinic, boat rides, food, donations or sponsorship are urged to contact the chapter coordinator directly at 920-931-4207 or via email at northernwinorml@gmail.com, thank you.

Two days in a row and this event was brought up...a huge thank you to NORML Laura for your work on this project and renewing your membership with the chapter... As a field activist, she also gathered some donations of gift cards, '49 Meats sounds like they may donate hamburger for the Potluck Picnic and sounds like we have a canoe lined up and a another fishing guide/mentor to help with first time anglers... ...

Today I personally invited the district State Assembly Rep. Joan Ballweg (FYI: who had sponsored/passed legislation in Wisco for a one day fishing license and has sponsored Industrial Hemp bills in the past, WE NEED HER TO FIND HER VOICE FOR US IN THE LEGISLATION PROCESS!) Stay tuned for more details, but mark your calendars and let us know if you want to help out!

I sent an email to Senator Luther Olsen also asking if he would attend or stop by to say high and do a little fishing!
